Washington DC Municipal Court Complex, Phase "C"
This project involved the restoration of several types of fixtures. Although we had restored the previous phases of the building complex, there were many subtle and not so subtle differences between the different buildings. Most types were manufactured by Erickson Electric of Boston
Type Z-1:
This is all that was left of the connection between the frame and the lantern. The torchieres were abrasive blasted, repaired with new pieces fabricated to replace missing and painted with a zinc-rich epoxy primer, topped by a mid-coat and a urethane topcoat, all from Tenenec. New etched, tempered glass was installed, stainless hinges and hardware, and a F26PLT lamp.
Type Z-3:
A few of the Z-3 trims were missing. New trims were fabricated, the housings were repaired and repainted. New LED lighting was installed. A lensing system devised by the lighting designer was fabricated consisting of two pieces of clear acrylic surrounding a panel of Koolshade louver, oriented to face the building. The intent is to wash the face of the building with light but shield the source.
