Project for May, 2010
Mastbaum High School
This project involved the restoration of a 1930 era ceiling fixture mounted on the lobby ceiling. There was no access to the fixture so it was un-maintained and fell into disrepair. Although not particularly large or heavy, the design of the fixture required disassembly, piece-by-piece by the EC and we received boxes of parts. Fortunately we had taken photographs for budgetary use several years before.

The fixture was re-structured inside so that it could be re-installed as two components. Maintenance is still difficult (access only with scaffolding erected around a statue below) but less frequent due to the use of a Philips QL lamp. Original finishes were duplicated, access door on bottom repaired and replacement glass side panels were slumped and installed.
