Temple University Sullivan Hall

This project involved installing new lamping and repairing glass shades in historic Samuel Yellin iron chandeliers.  The original leaded-glass shades had dozens of cracks, likely due to improper annealing of the glass panels, the metalwork was starting to rust due to deterioration of the original lacquer coating and lighting was obsolete.

The fixtures are inaccessible with anything but scaffolding or ladders so long life sources were desirable.  We replaced the spotty A and PS lamps with three F39T5HO lamps clustered around the center pipe and used Philips LED PAR lamps, up and down, in swivel-mounted sockets.

The fixtures were cleaned and lacquered.  We obtained the closest matched the glass, bent 28 new panels and installed in the lead frames.
